‘Albox with Great Pleasure’ Returns to Celebrate Local Gastronomy

The municipality of Albox is celebrating the third edition of ‘Albox with Great Pleasure’ today, Tuesday, December 30. The annual Christmas gastronomic fair brings together small and medium-sized producers from across the province, offering a wide range of local food products, crafts and festive gifts.

This year’s event is being held at Plaza Miras Carrasco, located in the centre of the town’s weekly market area. The official opening took place at 11:00 am, followed by a cookie-decorating workshop at 11:30.

Food, music and family activities

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a varied programme of activities, including live music from local band Five Rock and performances by Charanga La Despechá, adding a festive atmosphere to the event.

Family-focused entertainment plays a central role, with traditional games, inflatable attractions and the customary distribution of sweets by King Melchior, one of the Three Wise Men. Children’s workshops and activities run alongside the market stalls, while adults can browse for last-minute Christmas shopping.

Local products on display

Stalls at the fair feature a broad selection of regional products, including cured meats, cheeses, nougat, sweets, honey, migas, fritada, bread, preserves, organic eggs, truffles and wines. The event also showcases crafts, vintage toys and handmade gifts.

According to María del Mar Alfonso, Mayor of Albox, the fair provides an important boost for local entrepreneurs while allowing residents to fill their Christmas tables with high-quality regional produce.

Organisation and support

‘Albox with Great Pleasure’ is organised by the Albox City Council through its Department of Commerce and Culture, with support from the Andalusian Regional Government and the Gusto del Sur quality label.

The event forms part of Albox’s wider Christmas programme, with a strong emphasis on family-friendly activities and local economic support.

Rain shortens Three Kings Parade in Huércal-Overa

Published January 6, 2026 | Category: Events

TL;DR: Rain forced changes to the Three Kings Parade in Huércal-Overa, shortening the route, but the day still went ahead with music, street celebrations and visits to local institutions.

Rain shortens Three Kings Parade in Huércal-Overa, but celebrations continue

Huércal-Overa marked Three Kings’ Day with a full programme of activities despite persistent rain. Although weather conditions required a shorter parade route, families still gathered along the streets to welcome the Kings.

The main procession took place in the afternoon, following a reduced route through the town centre before ending earlier than planned as rainfall intensified. Local brass bands accompanied the parade, maintaining a festive atmosphere even as conditions worsened.

Earlier in the day, the Kings had already visited several local institutions, including the hospital and care centres, where residents and patients were able to greet them in a quieter and more personal setting.

The day concluded with a reception at the town’s theatre, where children handed over their letters before the celebrations came to a close. Despite the rain, Three Kings’ Day once again remained a key date on Huércal-Overa’s local calendar.

Three Kings Parade goes ahead across Cuevas del Almanzora after weather improves

Weather conditions finally turned in favour of Cuevas del Almanzora on Three Kings’ Day, allowing the traditional parade to go ahead across a wide part of the municipality. With rain staying away, the Kings were able to follow their planned route, reaching both inland villages and the coast.

The day began in the morning in smaller population centres, with visits across the Almanzora area before moving through a series of villages spread across the municipality. As the hours passed, the route gradually shifted towards the coastal towns.

The celebrations concluded later in the afternoon in Villaricos and Palomares, where larger receptions were held for families and children. Despite earlier concerns about the weather, turnout remained steady throughout the day, underlining the importance of Three Kings’ Day in Cuevas del Almanzora.

Roquetas de Mar Three Kings parade cancelled

Published January 5, 2026 | Category: Community

TL;DR: Due to forecast rain, Roquetas de Mar has cancelled its traditional Three Kings parade. Instead, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar will receive children indoors at three locations across the municipality this evening, with scheduled times from 17:30 to 19:00.

Roquetas de Mar Three Kings parade cancelled and moves celebrations indoors due to rain

The traditional Three Kings parade in Roquetas de Mar has been suspended this year due to the forecast of persistent rain linked to Storm Francis. To ensure children can still enjoy the visit of Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar, the town hall has organised a series of indoor receptions across the municipality.

Instead of a moving parade through the streets, the Three Kings will meet families at three covered locations, each with a scheduled arrival time. These venues have been prepared to host the event comfortably and safely, allowing children to greet the Kings, take photos and receive traditional sweets without being affected by the weather.

Reception times and locations:

  • El Parador Church – 17:30
  • Aguadulce Church – 18:30
  • Pabellon Infanta Cristina – 19:00

Local organisers have also stressed that, despite the changes to the public celebrations, the night-time delivery of gifts by the Three Kings will not be affected. Children will receive their presents as usual during the night of January 5.

Roquetas de Mar joins several municipalities across Almeria province that have adapted their Three Kings celebrations this year due to adverse weather, opting for indoor alternatives to keep the tradition going while prioritising safety.
