Three Kings parades moved forward in Almeria

Published January 2, 2026 | Category: Events

TL;DR: Due to the forecast rain linked to Storm Francis, several municipalities across Almeria province have decided to bring their Three Kings’ Day parades forward to Saturday, January 3. Changes have already been confirmed in towns including Vera, Carboneras, Garrucha, Huércal de Almería, Albox and Macael, with further adjustments possible in the coming days.

These are the towns in Almeria bringing forward their Three Kings parades due to rain

Rain, falling temperatures and even the possibility of snow are set to greet the Three Kings in Almeria this year. With Storm Francis forecast to reach southern Spain in the coming days, town councils across the province are already activating alternative plans to ensure that celebrations can still take place.

Local authorities are reviewing schedules, coordinating with Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar, and implementing Plan B options to avoid disruption caused by persistent rain expected from Sunday onwards.

Parades brought forward in the Levante area

One of the most widely adopted measures so far has been to move the Three Kings’ Day parade forward to Saturday, January 3, the day before the arrival of the storm.

Vera was the first municipality in the province to announce a change. On the night of January 1, the town hall confirmed that the traditional Three Kings Parade would be held on Saturday, January 3 at 5:00 pm, due to the forecast of heavy rain from Sunday.

The municipality also confirmed that Their Majesties will return to Vera on Monday, January 5, to carry out the traditional gift distribution at the Vera City Auditorium, starting at 6:00 pm, ensuring that the magic of the most special night of the year continues despite the weather.

Carboneras has also announced changes. The Three Kings will visit neighbourhoods from 9:00 am on Saturday, January 3, with the main parade starting at 4:00 pm from Plaza del Castillo and returning to the same location at 8:00 pm.

Their Majesties will also return on Monday, January 5, to receive children and collect letters at the stables of San Andrés Castle, between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

In Garrucha, the Three Kings Parade will also take place on Saturday, January 3 at 6:00 pm. The route will start at the port, continue through Birra and Calle Mayor to the Déjavu roundabout, then down to the Paseo and on to the Town Hall.

The parade will be accompanied by the “Snowflake” show. Upon arrival at the Town Hall Square, Their Majesties will say farewell from the balcony before greeting children individually and posing for photographs.

Earlier parades in Albox, Macael and Huércal de Almería

The Huércal de Almería Town Hall has also decided to move its Three Kings Parade to Saturday, January 3, with the procession beginning at 6:30 pm.

As part of the revised programme, the planned Sunday visit of the royal pages and camels to Plaza de la Constitución has been cancelled. However, the camels will still participate in Saturday’s parade, which will depart from Plaza de Las Mascaranas and end at the Multipurpose Theater.

The route will pass through Demócrito, Euclides, Sócrates, Carretera de Almería, Real, Plaza de la Constitución, Pueblo, the level crossing bridge, Molineta, Coloso de Rodas and Paseo del Generalife, before heading uphill towards Castillo de Vélez-Blanco and descending to the Multipurpose Theater.

Additional changes include the relocation of children’s Christmas activities, the Christmas market and tourist train services, all now concentrated on Saturday to avoid rain.

Albox has likewise confirmed that its Three Kings Parade will be brought forward to Saturday, January 3 at 4:30 pm, starting from the Velázquez School and ending at Plaza Mayor. Royal Heralds will collect letters and requests from 5:30 pm onwards on the stage in the square.

Macael will also welcome the Three Kings earlier than usual. The parade will take place on Saturday, January 3 at 6:30 pm, with the town emphasising that the celebration will go ahead with music, sweets and festive spirit despite the weather forecast.

Changes in the Poniente area

For the moment, Three Kings parades in the Poniente region remain largely unchanged. However, Berja has modified an event linked to the visit of Their Majesties.

The arrival of the Royal Herald, originally scheduled for Sunday, January 4, has been moved forward to Saturday, January 3. The procession will depart from the Berja Multipurpose Center at 5:30 pm, with the envoy collecting the symbolic key to the town before presenting it to the Three Kings.

With rain forecast across much of the province, further changes may still be announced by other municipalities in the coming hours.

Rain shortens Three Kings Parade in Huércal-Overa

Published January 6, 2026 | Category: Events

TL;DR: Rain forced changes to the Three Kings Parade in Huércal-Overa, shortening the route, but the day still went ahead with music, street celebrations and visits to local institutions.

Rain shortens Three Kings Parade in Huércal-Overa, but celebrations continue

Huércal-Overa marked Three Kings’ Day with a full programme of activities despite persistent rain. Although weather conditions required a shorter parade route, families still gathered along the streets to welcome the Kings.

The main procession took place in the afternoon, following a reduced route through the town centre before ending earlier than planned as rainfall intensified. Local brass bands accompanied the parade, maintaining a festive atmosphere even as conditions worsened.

Earlier in the day, the Kings had already visited several local institutions, including the hospital and care centres, where residents and patients were able to greet them in a quieter and more personal setting.

The day concluded with a reception at the town’s theatre, where children handed over their letters before the celebrations came to a close. Despite the rain, Three Kings’ Day once again remained a key date on Huércal-Overa’s local calendar.

Cuevas del Almanzora celebrated Three Kings’ Day as planned

Published January 6, 2026 | Category: Events

TL;DR: After days of weather uncertainty, Cuevas del Almanzora was able to celebrate Three Kings’ Day as planned, with clear skies allowing the Kings to visit villages across the municipality before finishing on the coast.

Three Kings Parade goes ahead across Cuevas del Almanzora after weather improves

Weather conditions finally turned in favour of Cuevas del Almanzora on Three Kings’ Day, allowing the traditional parade to go ahead across a wide part of the municipality. With rain staying away, the Kings were able to follow their planned route, reaching both inland villages and the coast.

The day began in the morning in smaller population centres, with visits across the Almanzora area before moving through a series of villages spread across the municipality. As the hours passed, the route gradually shifted towards the coastal towns.

The celebrations concluded later in the afternoon in Villaricos and Palomares, where larger receptions were held for families and children. Despite earlier concerns about the weather, turnout remained steady throughout the day, underlining the importance of Three Kings’ Day in Cuevas del Almanzora.
