Pet-Friendly Hotels in Almeria’s Main Cities

A recent report by PriceLabs examines how pet-friendly different cities in Spain are by looking at the percentage of hotels allowing pets. In Almeria province, only two municipalities meet the population criteria to appear on the complete national ranking: Roquetas de Mar and Almeria city. Roquetas de Mar leads with 30.71% of hotels accepting pets, closely followed by Almeria city at 26.54%. These figures reflect a decent level of accommodation options for pet owners visiting these urban centers.

Smaller Towns Leading in Pet Acceptance

When towns with fewer than 50,000 residents are included, the picture changes significantly. Nijar, with just over 33,000 inhabitants, tops the list within Almeria province with 49.10% of its 167 hotel listings welcoming pets—an impressive figure that ranks it just behind the national leader, Cuenca. Vera and Mojacar also show strong pet-friendly percentages of 43.52% and 35% respectively. This shift highlights opportunities in smaller towns particularly suited for visitors traveling with animals.

Almeria’s Provincial Context

Beyond the resorts and towns mentioned, other municipalities such as Carboneras and Garrucha contribute to the province’s welcoming atmosphere for pet owners, with pet-friendly hotel rates around 27 to 30%. Even the lowest figures in Almeria’s rankings are higher than those found in larger Spanish cities like Valencia, which stands at 23%. This demonstrates how Almeria, despite fewer overall options than bigger provinces, consistently offers alternatives for holidaymakers unwilling to separate from their pets.

Implications for Travelers

For pet owners planning a visit to Almeria, the data suggests focusing on smaller towns like Nijar, Vera, and Mojacar if pet accommodation is a priority. These places offer a much higher likelihood of finding pet-friendly stays while enjoying the local charm of the province. Meanwhile, Roquetas de Mar and Almeria city remain solid choices for those who prefer urban amenities alongside pet acceptance.

Almeria’s accommodation landscape shows an encouraging trend towards inclusivity for travelers with pets, making it a viable and welcoming destination for such visitors.

Record Summer Forecast for Andalusian Travel

Strong Summer Outlook

With hotels across the province filling up fast, Andalusia’s travel agencies anticipate yet another busy summer. The regional tourism sector remains a vital economic engine, and this momentum is clearly benefiting agencies. The Federation of Andalusian Travel Agencies (FAAV) projects a 4.5% increase in summer bookings, reflecting steady growth for these businesses over recent years.

Demand from Home and Abroad

The upcoming months promise high activity, fueled by both national tourists and an increasing number of international visitors drawn to Andalusia’s diverse appeal. As one of Spain’s most complete and competitive tourist destinations, the region is attracting more attention beyond its usual markets. This mix of clientele keeps travel agencies busy helping plan everything from domestic trips to far-flung adventures.

Local Traveller Preferences

Many residents of Almeria still turn to travel agents to plan their summer holidays, especially when their trips take them beyond Spain’s borders. According to Javier Guerrero from Argar Viajes, interest is growing in less traditional destinations, with Japan standing out. Despite the higher cost involved, Almerian travellers appreciate the unique experiences the country offers and often return satisfied with their choice. Guerrero notes that though growth this year is modest compared to previous seasons, it remains on an upward trajectory.

National Tourism Trends

On the domestic front, travel within Spain continues a steady upward trend, helped by geopolitical tensions abroad that have positioned Spain as a safe, reliable option. This dynamic is benefiting coastal and island destinations across the country. The travel agencies also highlight a notable shift toward last-minute bookings, though many customers still prefer to arrange their holidays well in advance, relying on the expert guidance that agencies provide.

Value of Professional Advice

In a market complicated by misleading offers and an increase in unauthorised sellers, travellers increasingly appreciate the security that comes with consulting qualified professionals. Luis Arroyo, president of the FAAV, emphasises that customers value having experts by their side before, during, and after their trips. This trusted relationship helps maintain strong tourism numbers and supports the ongoing recovery and growth of the sector.
