San Isidro celebrations in Campohermoso and San Isidro de Níjar
On Wednesday 15 May, the villages of Campohermoso and San Isidro de Níjar will celebrate the feast day of San Isidro, the patron saint of farmers, with a variety of traditional events and religious activities.
Campohermoso, one of the main villages in the Níjar municipality, will host religious services and a procession in honour of the saint, a tradition deeply rooted in local agricultural heritage. Residents and visitors will gather to take part in the celebrations, which blend faith, folklore and community spirit.
In the nearby village of San Isidro, named after the saint himself, similar festivities will take place. A mass and subsequent procession will mark the occasion, accompanied by local music and festive decorations throughout the village streets.
The Day of San Isidro is a significant cultural moment in many rural parts of Spain, especially in farming communities like those in Níjar. These celebrations not only pay tribute to the saint but also reinforce the strong community bonds and ancestral customs of the area.

Las Negras Cleanup This Sunday: Volunteers Join Níjar Town Hall in Cabo de Gata
Published November 2025 | Category: Nature & Environment
TL;DR: This Sunday, Las Negras hosts a community cleanup with international volunteers, supported by the Níjar Town Hall and funded through the EU’s European Solidarity Corps.
Las Negras cleanup this Sunday: volunteers unite to protect Cabo de Gata–Níjar Natural Park
The village of Las Negras will host a community cleanup this Sunday, 16 November, bringing together the Níjar Town Hall and an international team of volunteers. The event aims to protect one of the most environmentally sensitive areas of the Cabo de Gata–Níjar Natural Park while raising awareness among residents and visitors.
Overview
The activity is part of a month-long programme funded by the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), which brings young volunteers from across Europe to collaborate on environmental initiatives in the Níjar municipality. The volunteers are currently based in Fernán Pérez and are participating in coastal cleanups, neighbourhood maintenance and environmental workshops in local schools.
Event details
Date: Sunday, 16 November 2025
Start time: 09:00
Meeting point: Las Negras roundabout
The cleanup will focus on the village entrance, the beach area and the dry riverbed. All tools and materials — including gloves and bags — will be provided by the organisers. Residents and visitors interested in joining can contact the coordination team at +39 320 063 8535.
Environmental context
The initiative comes after a summer in which the Níjar Town Hall removed more than seven tons of waste from popular beaches such as Agua Amarga and San José. During the high season, the Natural Park faces intense visitor pressure: nearly 50,000 vehicles passed through the controlled access points to Mónsul, Barronal and Genoveses between June and September.
Local authorities highlight that community-led activities like this one help mitigate seasonal impact while strengthening environmental stewardship throughout the year.

Mojacar tourism – Over 65,000 British visitors so far in 2025
Published November 10, 2025 | Category: News
TL;DR: Mojacar received over 65,000 British visitors by September 2025 and aims to strengthen its presence in the UK market through the World Travel Market in London.
Mojacar tourism 2025 – Over 65,000 British visitors so far this year
Mojacar has confirmed that it received more than 65,000 British tourists between January and September 2025. The figure was announced during the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, one of the world’s leading tourism fairs, where the coastal town promoted itself as a key destination for British travellers and international investors.
Strengthening ties with the UK market
“Up to September, Mojacar has received more than 65,000 British visitors, demonstrating the importance of this market and the loyalty of British tourists to our destination,” said the Councilor for Tourism, María Gracia Alarcón, during the WTM. “Continuing to strengthen our presence in London is key to the future of tourism in Mojacar.”
The councilor, along with Councilor for Commerce Pascual Artero, led the municipal delegation, accompanied by several local business owners and hoteliers. Thanks to the collaboration between the Almeria Chamber of Commerce and the Mojacar Town Hall, local companies were able to attend the international fair for the first time.
Business collaboration and promotion
This joint participation was described as “a great opportunity for Mojacar businesses to showcase their products and services in the international and British markets.” The local administration underlined that the fair also allowed meetings with tour operators and travel agents interested in the destination. “It was essential for our business owners and hoteliers to be present at WTM,” said Alarcón, calling the event “a unique opportunity to showcase the charms of Mojacar, create business contacts, and learn from the strategies of other major tourist destinations.”
Supporting local growth
Councilor Pascual Artero highlighted that “the presence of our business owners and hoteliers at this fair demonstrates the joint commitment of the City Council and the private sector to boosting the local economy. Mojacar not only promotes its tourism offerings but also the quality of its business community, which is the true engine of the municipality’s development.”
Institutional meetings and future outlook
During the fair, the Mojacar delegation held meetings with the Andalusian Minister of Tourism, José Ángel Bernal, and provincial deputies Ángel Escobar and María del Mar López. These contacts reinforce cooperation between administrations to continue positioning Mojacar as a leading destination within both the province of Almeria and the British market.
