Comedy Duo Fill Maestro Padilla This Saturday
Returning with a unique comedy show
This Saturday, October 3rd, the Auditorio Municipal Maestro Padilla in Almeria will host a highly anticipated event featuring two of the city’s standout comedians: Pepe Cespedes and Paco Calavera. Their show, titled “Tribute to Pepe Cespedes and Paco Calavera,” promises an evening filled with laughter and sharp wit, making it a perfect end to the season’s cultural calendar. The event is part of the Autumn programming organised by the local government’s Department of Culture, Education, Museums and Traditions.
Imitating themselves with irony
The concept behind the show is both simple and clever. Rather than paying tribute to other comedians, Cespedes and Calavera turn their comedic talent inward, becoming imitators of themselves in a lighthearted homage. For about 90 minutes, they navigate their unique comedic worlds, blending character work, improvisation, audience interaction, and a range of comedic situations designed to elicit laughter. This self-referential approach highlights their distinctive styles and long-standing influence on Almeria’s comedy scene.
Profoundly local comedians with national reach
Both performers bring impressive resumes to the stage. Paco Calavera, known for his absurd humour, started his career with a monologue on Paramount Comedy in 2004 and has since built a diverse body of work that spans television, radio, film, and theatre. His credits include appearances on shows like “Solo ante el Peligro,” “Las Noches de Paramount Comedy,” and “Museo Coconut,” along with collaborations in radio programs such as “Vaya Tela.” Paco also continues to innovate with his theatre group, presenting works like “Mamocracia” and “Veranico Azul.”
Pepe Cespedes, born in Almeria, has gained national recognition as a monologist with a style marked by irony, provocation, and his distinctive Andalusian accent. Like Calavera, he appeared on Paramount Comedy’s “Nuevos Cómicos” and took part in the “10 Cómicos 10” tour. Cespedes is currently involved in popular live shows including “La Noche Canalla” and “Botellon en el parque del Pryca,” blending quick wit and improvisation with close audience engagement.
Almost sold out and ready to entertain
The show’s popularity is evident as tickets are almost entirely sold out, with only a few remaining at the time of publication. The demand reflects both the local community’s affection for these comedians and the reputation they have built across Spain. Fans can look forward to an entertaining night where two of Almeria’s most loved comedic voices come together to share an evening full of laughter and mutual tribute, making it a not-to-be-missed cultural event in the city’s autumn calendar.
