Hungarian Travel Professionals Explore Almeria in Push to Boost Summer 2026 Tourist Flights
Almeria Targets Central European Market with Familiarization Trip
The Costa de Almeria has welcomed a group of Hungarian travel agents and journalists on a special familiarization trip (fam trip), an initiative aimed at boosting the region’s profile in Central Europe. The trip, coordinated by the Spanish Tourism Office in Vienna alongside Kartago Tours, Turismo Andaluz, and Almeria’s Provincial Tourism Service, allowed Hungarian professionals to experience firsthand what this Mediterranean province offers. This comes as part of a broader strategy to promote the inbound charter flights connecting Budapest and Almeria, successfully launched in summer 2025 and renewed for the 2026 season.
Firsthand Experience Enhances Destination Promotion
The group included 14 selected travel agents, two journalists, representatives from Kartago Tours, and the Spanish Tourism Office in Vienna. They followed a tailored itinerary showcasing some of Almeria’s signature attractions and tourism strengths. Provincial Tourism Councillor María José Herrada emphasised the value of these trips in opening up new markets and providing tourism professionals with direct knowledge of the destination, enabling them to recommend it confidently to Hungarian clients and readers.
Herrada highlighted Almeria’s “diverse, competitive, and distinctive offer,” combining sun and beach, natural parks, cultural heritage, gastronomy, active adventure, and top-tier hotels. The renewed Budapest-Almeria connection is seen as a strategic advantage, making it easier for international visitors from Hungary to reach the province and boosting Almeria’s visibility in a promising market.
Experiencing Almeria’s Natural and Cultural Riches
During their stay, the Hungarian delegation visited several key locations in the province. In Roquetas de Mar and Almeria city, they explored urban and coastal attractions. The group also ventured inland to Tabernas and the Oasys MiniHollywood theme park, discovering opportunities for nature-based and adventure tourism, including a popular buggy tour that showcases the region’s rugged landscape.
One of the highlights was an excursion to the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park, renowned for its unique scenery, unspoiled beaches, and rich biodiversity. This protected area attracts tourists seeking authentic nature experiences and active outdoor pursuits. The visitors also toured the Geode of Pulpi, a remarkable geological feature regarded as a growing draw for both national and international tourists.
A Closer Look at Almeria’s Tourism Infrastructure
Alongside sightseeing activities, the group had the chance to evaluate Almeria’s accommodation options and visitor services designed to meet the needs of international guests. This direct exposure helps travel agents understand the variety and quality of offerings on the ground, ranging from luxury hotels to more intimate lodgings, and equips them to better tailor their holiday packages for the Hungarian market.
The fam trip is a clear demonstration of how regional tourism authorities and partners are actively nurturing connections with new source markets. Each travel professional and journalist who experiences Almeria becomes a valuable advocate, increasing the destination’s reputation and driving bookings for the upcoming busy season.
As summer 2026 approaches, the renewed Budapest-Almeria charter flight promises to strengthen connectivity and bring more visitors eager to discover this sun-drenched corner of southern Spain.

Canastereo Live in Villa Africa
Saturday Night Performance
This Saturday, July 18, the band Canastereo will take the stage at 10 pm in the Villa Africa area of Aguadulce. The concert is part of the ‘A pie de calle’ programme, organised by the Culture Department of Roquetas de Mar. This series of events aims to bring live music and cultural activities to neighbourhoods across the town.
A Unique Musical Fusion
Canastereo is known for its ethereal sound that fuses rock with elements of neo-psychedelia, all deeply rooted in flamenco influences. Their music creates atmospheric soundscapes with a distinctive identity, drawing on experimentation while remaining connected to traditional Spanish roots. Their lyrics explore themes ranging from dreams and nature to the passage of time and human emotions, blending the everyday with the surreal.
Evolution of Their Sound
The band made its debut in 2018 with their EP ‘Raices Lunaticas,’ which introduced their refreshing mix of genres and flamenco nuances. In 2021, they released their first full album, ‘Pasajes de lo Impuro.’ This record established their sound as a conceptual journey integrating rock, flamenco, and oriental textures.
More recently, in 2023, Canastereo released two singles: ‘Anabalina’ — a tribute reinterpretation of a classic by Las Grecas — and ‘Atlantico,’ which showed signs of their evolving musical direction.
The Latest Album Jazmines
In 2026, Canastereo unveiled their new album ‘Jazmines,’ a fresh chapter that explores indie and alternative rock with a curious and innovative spirit. The album features collaborations with prominent artists such as Rocio Marquez, Victor Cabezuelo, and Kike Verafauna. Produced by Victor Cabezuelo and recorded at Estudios La Mina with sound engineer Raul Perez, the album’s mixes were done by Manuel Cabezali and mastered by Dany Richter.
‘Jazmines’ marks a distinct evolution for the band, expanding their musical universe with new effects and synthesizers while reinforcing their artistic identity.
A Local Cultural Experience
The concert promises a rich experience for music lovers interested in innovative soundscapes inspired by flamenco tradition but open to contemporary experimentation. Visitors attending the event in Villa Africa can expect a night of immersive, atmospheric music reflective of Canastereo’s artistic growth and the diverse cultural fabric of Roquetas de Mar’s music scene.
