TL;DR: Benahadux will celebrate its Fiestas in Honor of the Virgen de la Cabeza from 3 to 6 September, with religious events, live music, family activities, sports and a quieter fairground hour for children with autism spectrum disorder.

Four days of fiestas in Benahadux

Benahadux has already begun building up to its annual Fiestas in Honor of the Virgen de la Cabeza, with several activities taking place ahead of the main programme. The central celebrations run from Thursday 3 September to Sunday 6 September, combining traditional religious ceremonies with workshops, sports, family entertainment and evening music.

The programme will continue after the main weekend with the traditional “Fiestas de la Virgen de la Cabeza” clay shooting event on Sunday 13 September.

Pre-festival activities

The first events have included a prehistoric archery shoot at La Rambilla, organised in collaboration with Clan de Tiro Prehistorico Benahadux. The III Splash Chess Tournament was also held at Plaza Residencial Azahar.

These opening activities provide an early start to the celebrations before the official inauguration on Thursday evening, when the fairground lighting and attractions area will be switched on.

Thursday opening programme

Thursday 3 September will begin with a costume jewellery workshop at the Centro Cultural at 17:00. The final of the fronton tournament will follow at 18:00 at the Antonio Ros Segura Municipal Fronton.

At 19:30, the triduum Mass in honour of the Virgen de la Cabeza will take place, with the participation of the Cofradia Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno y Nuestra Señora de los Dolores.

The official opening is scheduled for 20:00, with the lighting of the fairground and the traditional Dia del Niño, which includes special prices on the rides. At 21:00, the “Hora sin ruido” initiative will be held. The measure is intended to support the inclusion of children with autism spectrum disorder and will continue on the following days.

Friday and Saturday events

On Friday 4 September, the Centro Cultural will host a video game workshop from 10:00 to 14:00. Another costume jewellery workshop is planned for 17:00.

The triduum Mass will return at 19:30, with the participation of the Asociación Juvenil Virgen del Carmen. At the same time, the Parque Central esplanade will host a Holi Party. The evening will end with dancing to Orquesta Omega from 22:30.

Saturday 5 September starts with a petanque tournament at 09:30. A Swim Party with Maria Abad will take place at the Municipal Swimming Pool from 11:30, followed by the traditional Feria del Mediodia at 14:00.

Young people can attend an aquatic party with Juanmi Moya DJ from 16:00 to 19:00. Younger children will have a separate programme of recreational activities at Plaza Virgen del Mar from 17:30 to 19:30. The triduum Mass is scheduled for 19:30, while the day’s main music event will be a performance by Orquesta Calle 40 at Parque Central from 22:30.

Virgen de la Cabeza day

Sunday 6 September, the Day of the Virgen de la Cabeza, will focus on the patron saint’s religious celebrations. A solemn Mass will be held at 12:00 and sung by the Azahares rociero choir. A floral offering will follow, with attendees asked to use exclusively white flowers.

The Feria del Mediodia returns at 14:00, accompanied by the charanga Fusión FiesterA. Children’s activities will be available from 17:30 to 19:30.

The main religious procession will leave at 20:30. The image of the patron saint will be carried through the streets of Benahadux in the Procesion de Alabanza, accompanied by the AUM Benahadux Music Band.

Final September event

The festivities will conclude their wider programme on Sunday 13 September with the traditional “Fiestas de la Virgen de la Cabeza” clay shooting event. It will begin at 10:00 at the Gador Olympic Shooting Range, in collaboration with SC Benahadux.

With activities spread across the town’s cultural venues, sports facilities, public squares, swimming pool and fairground, the programme offers several ways for residents and visitors to take part throughout the celebrations.
