TL;DR: Chiquipark, Almeria’s longstanding kids’ play centre, has a fresh management team determined to revive it with new activities and a broader audience, saving it from closure.
Chiquipark Reopens with New Leadership
New Management Team Steps In
Chiquipark, one of Almeria’s best-known indoor play centres since 1997, has avoided imminent closure thanks to a new group of four partners who took over the business this September. Among them are Pedro Campoy and his wife Maria del Carmen Jimenez Garcia. Campoy, a local entrepreneur with prior business experience, was inspired to take action after discovering the park was close to shutting down. Living nearby and often visiting with his daughter, Pedro learned from an employee that Chiquipark’s future was uncertain, which motivated him and his partners to negotiate a transfer agreement finalized in July. While the commercial name remains the same, the legal ownership and strategy behind the venture are completely renewed.
Returning to Its Origins with Fresh Energy
The new management describes themselves as young parents who understand what delights children today because they are experiencing it firsthand. Their shared enthusiasm is driving efforts to reclaim Chiquipark’s position as a premier childhood destination in the city. The original focus on hosting children’s birthday parties remains a staple, but the team is eager to expand the appeal beyond young families. Campoy, who grew up attending Chiquipark himself, sees an opportunity to engage adults in their 30s and 40s who want to reconnect with the fun memories of their own youth. This has led to bookings already planned for adult birthday nights, along with ideas to offer space for bachelor and bachelorette parties.
Expanding Events and Facilities
Looking forward, the new owners have ambitions to broaden Chiquipark’s role in family entertainment. Plans include hosting communion celebrations starting in 2028 due to the unusual calendar for 2027, signalling a long-term vision for event diversification. Another initiative aims to create a sports viewing area where parents can watch football matches featuring big teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Almeria, or Atletico Madrid, all while their children play safely nearby. The facility spans about 990 square metres over two floors, with a large, main play area on the ground floor featuring a big slide, multiple smaller slides, a ball pit, and an inflatable castle, making it the largest indoor playground area in central Almeria. Upstairs hosts party rooms with menus for adults and kids, plus a separate play space designed for toddlers under three.
Community Focus with Affordable Pricing
As the team moves forward into autumn and winter, they have community-focused events on their calendar including a Halloween party and Christmas celebrations that will feature a visit from the Three Wise Men to delight young guests. Pedro Campoy highlights two main values driving the park’s relaunch: offering more affordable prices and delivering the best possible service to families. With this approach, the new leadership hopes to uphold Chiquipark’s legacy while ensuring it remains accessible and welcoming to new generations in Almeria.
A Fresh Chapter for a Local Icon
Thanks to the efforts of its new management, Chiquipark’s story continues after nearly three decades as a landmark for children’s leisure in Almeria. The fresh ideas combined with respect for its history provide a promising future, offering a space where children and families can create memories once again. By bringing in varied audiences and adding new services, the park is poised to remain a vital part of the community’s family life for years to come.
